My name is Matt Gurnari. I graduated from Penn State with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English. I graduated in May 2012. I was born on September 12, 1989 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Since I was a kid I was always around sports whether I was playing sports or watching them on television. I realized then that I wanted to be a sports broadcaster when I grow up. This past summer I was the announcer for my brother's baseball all star game. I also had an internship at WILK, a radio station in Pittston, PA. I would record a couple videos of their show, take photographs for their website, also looked up information of the election in November in the summer of 2010.
I also went to two broadcasting camps in the summer of 2008 in Pennsylvania. First, I went to Villanova University, where we would have guest speakers such as Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Omar Gaithers, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, radio sports shows hosts and two of the star players on the Villanova Wildcats Men's Basketball team Scottie Reynolds and Dwayne Anderson. The second Broadcasting camp I attended was at Misericordia University in Dallas, PA. We made a newspaper of our camp and we also made a newscast of our video. I was the sports anchor in the newscast. Also while shooting the newscast, when I wasn't on air, I would work the camera while recording the newscast. By going to the broadcasting camps I learned how to interview players, reporters and talk show hosts, anchor reading off the teleprompt, being an anchor behind the scenes while on the air and also being a reporter.
